Hasan Jahangir’s ‘Hawa Hawa’ goes to Bollywood

It was in the eighties when Hasan Jahangir’s terribly catchy ‘Hawa Hawa’ SB_Hasancame into our consciousness. Two decades later,  ‘Hawa Hawa’ hasn’t lost its appeal. But over the years, many unofficial remixes of the song have released and majority of them have not done justice to the song. And Hasan Jahangir never gave rights to remix his most famous tune… until now.

The super hit single is now on its way to an Indian film. It will be featured in director Revathy S Varma’s film, Aap Ke Liye Hum. Aap Ke Liye Hum stars Jaya Bachchan, Ayesha Takia, Madhvan and marks the comeback of Raveena Tandon.

But it won’t be featured as the original version. According to reports, the song will be re-created to give it a contemporary feel.

Mangesh Daphale, MD of the production house Hari Om Sai Productions, said, “We have finalised the deal and Hassan Jahangir will soon record the song. We will introduce some new sounds in the latest version. We also plan to have Hassanbhai in the music video but that is yet to be finalised.”

SB_RaveenaSpeaking to Mumbai Mirror from Karachi, Hassan Jahangir said, “Yes, we have finalised all the copyright issues and the necessary permissions have been taken. It is such a refreshing change from all the ‘Hawa Hawa’ copies that have been made in the past. Mangesh and Revathy were extremely professional and it was a pleasure to deal with them. I have suffered a lot as my songs were used in the past without my permission.”

“We have also spoken about the possibility of featuring me in the music video in the film but that largely depends on the relations between India and Pakistan whenever the video will be made. This is a step forward in the friendship between the two countries and I am extremely glad that my song will now officially be part of a Hindi film,” said Hassan.

This tune has influenced countless songs and has even been lifted in the Govinda starrer Billu Badshah as ‘Java Java’ which was sung by Govinda.
