Atif Aslam – ‘Humein Kia Hua Hai’ depicts Pakistan today.

As the second season of Coke Studio has wrapped up, new versions of originals and fusion tunes weren’t the only things that happened on the floor. Pakistan’s current reigning pop star Atif Aslam debuted a new tune this season, ‘Humein Kya Hua Hai’.

Aggressive, volatile and honest, it is one of those tunes that actually reflect a personal side of Atif Aslam and his sentiment on the ongoing situation and its impact on us as a people.

Speaking about the new single, Atif told Instep Today, “It’s a new song that I wrote while brainstorming with friends and it completely depicts the current situation of the country, the wild environment and especially how the youth has become a victim of it.”

Explaining his sentiment further, Atif said, “The song is based on the current situation, which is getting better and it gives us hope that it will get much better if we just look inside ourselves and perform our duties with honesty and stop criticizing whatever else is happening around us.”

Atif is still mum about the flavour of his next record and this time, he will take time to deliver a solid record. The perception of Atif Aslam changed with Coke Studio. Will the Coke Studio spirit be a part of his next record?” I don’t know much about what people are expecting from my next album but I know one thing for sure… the kind of fusion I did in Coke Studio is what I have always believed in.”
