September 10, 2011

“Stand by Me”, a classic R&B song which was recorded in 1960 and then released in 1961, was originally written and performed by Ben E. King. According to Wikipedia, there have been over 400 recorded versions of “Stand by Me”, including versions by John Lennon, Otis Redding, Jimi Hendrix, and Elton John. “Stand by Me”, a 1986 American drama film directed by Rob Reiner took its title from the same song.

Recently, Bollywood actor and producer Shahrukh Khan bought the rights of this romantic classic number to use it in his most awaited science-fiction superhero film “Ra.One”. The song was remade into Hindi/Urdu called “Dildara” and was performed by none other than Pakistani maestro Shafqat Amanat Ali.

Shahrukh Khan thinks it is the best song in the ‘Ra.One’ soundtrack album with a touch of Sufi music.

The film’s music will officially release on 12th September, 2011.
