Imran Momina, commonly known as Emu, is a pianist and composer who has been playing for Fuzon since the band emerged. Emu also owns a recording studio where the most part of the recording for Fuzon is done. Emu has also produced for artists like Ali Haider and Najam Sheraz. On 21st of October, Emu held a launching ceremony for his record label “Emix Records” which will be distributing the musical content through Royal Records.
Because of the commercial state of music in Pakistan, musicians have been either coming up with their own record labels or going ahead with Indie releases. We have previously highlighted how Pakistanis have been relying on the indie route when it comes to selling or distributing music.
We have previously seen Annie Khalid releasing through her own AK Records, Hadiqa Kiani through her own HK Records and Ali Zafar came up with Alif records for his own releases. The problem with these labels, at least for now, is that they aren’t signing up other artists. Noori did release Qayaas through their BIY but that didn’t go too well either. There’s also another record label by Jamal Rahman which goes by the name “True Brew Records” which will be brewing Zeb & Haniya‘s EP. Unfortunately, with all these labels, music still isn’t being distributed the way it should be.
Emix Records will be most likely yet another effort by a mainstream musician to make music distribution better in Pakistan. Emix Records launched their first artist “Ammar Ali Khan” on the same day as label came to being.

Realeasing songs thru Individual record labels are a mess belive me if these artists want to be a commercial success they need a “brand” and rest will follow; their albums will be marketed, audience will grow, will be heard on tv and radio. Most importantly good label actually gives an artist more creative freedom than if they are a self run bedroom indie artists. Its unrealistic for an artist to expect to simply be able to write and record something, put it on here and find a huge audience. There has to be an element of business marketing to gain an audience otherwise our music industry will be sailing.
This is an excellent initiation done by Emu and it should further help the cause of solving: how music should be distributed.
pls make music ……not for money…..and was the first comment from mr.emu.
I have no objection over indie music they can and will keep coming for ages no stopping that. Main concern is survival. Are they going to last? Now this is where a contractual record label handles that major concern for a lot of artists. And no the first comment was not from Mr.Emu.
i ve songs and want to get em labelled by a record company.so if u want to then temme???
