Nazia Hassan’s Disco Deewane Reworked for Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year

For all the Nazia Hassan’s fans out there, there is a big treat coming your way as one of the mega hit from our very own super star has been re-worked for an upcoming Bollywood flick “Student of the year”. The movie has been directed by Karan Johar.

Yesterday, this very first song from the movie was released officially with the name of “The Disco Song”, that contains a sample from the original Nazia Hassan’s version. The song is under license from Saregama India Limited. It is encouraging to see the way they have mentioned and highlighted the original version and given full credits to it and Nazia’s voice.

“The Disco Song” is sort of a regular peppy song from the rom-com Indian movies with a very uplifting beat but the addition of the Disco Deewane sample to it has surely added to the spark manifolds. Although it feature only a couple of lines from the original version and there has been lot of other music and lyrics added to it, but one can easily say that even those couple of lines still reminds you of the true essence of the song and can certainly over-shadow the whole song. It is that exceptional feel of Nazia’s voice that never gives you a hint that it’s such an old hit.

This newer revamped version of the song is directed by the ace duo Vishal and Shekar who have already delivered many huge hits and seems to have special liking for Pakistani singers and musicians alike. Earlier on Vishal was quoted as saying,

“Many thanks to Biddu and Saregama for letting us use the hook and Nazia’s voice”

Disco Deewane originally sung by Nazia Hassan was first released almost 3 decades ago in 1981. And instantly became a magnanimous hit with the younger lot and even today the scenario remains the same. It can still make you stand and dance to the tune. There have been many reprised version of the track till date including The Disco Song but safely not one of them seem to get even close to the original one in terms of popularity and fame.

Bollywood has always shown a great interest in Pakistani pop music and many famous musicians of even today shot to fame only after they ventured to the industry across the border but it really stirs you up when you see the Pioneer of the pop music in sub-continent still being featured in such big project even almost 10 years after her sad demise.
