Waheed Murad’s ‘Armaan’ Is Being Remade with Fawad Afzal Khan

For all the Pakistani cinema lovers, there is a big news coming your way as it has been revealed that ‘Armaan’, a blockbuster movie from the past, is being remade. And this just doesn’t end up here because the shooting of the film has already started. The film stars Aamina Sheikh and the super star, Fawad Afzal Khan in the lead.

Armaan was originally released long time back in 1966 and is regarded as one of the most successful movies ever being made in the Pakistani history. It stared Waheed Murad and Zeba, two of the most renowned names of their own time.

Star of ‘Bol’ Humaima Malick takes home the LSA Best Actress Award 2012

Humaima Malick was honoured for the first time at the 11th Lux Style Awards 2012 as Best Actress for her stunning performance in Shoaib Mansoor’s ‘Bol’. This was a special award for Humaima as there were no other nominees in the category and she was handpicked by the jury for this award. Back stage she commented,

“It’s wonderful to be recognized like this. I have been a part of LSA for quite a while now, but I’m very happy to have been given this award.”

The Lux Style Awards is the only awards ceremony of its kind in Pakistan that presents to the Pakistan’s best in Fashion, Music, Film and Television. It also provided a much needed entertainment away from all that is happening in the country at the moment. One of the most prominent feature of this year’s awards was the increase in the award categories to 26 this year.

Humaima Malick to Star in Bollywood Action-Thriller ‘Sher’ Alongside Sanjay Dutt

Model Humaima Malick first rose to fame when she walked the runway at the tender age of 14 for Deepak Perwani. Recently she has been making waves as an up and coming actress with Shoaib Mansoor’s 2011 hit Bol. She is now set to make her mark in Bollywood with the action-thriller Sher starring opposite Sanjay Dutt.

The film which has been shot in Jaipur, Gujarat and Rajasthan has been directed by Soham Shah of Kaal. The film with also feature talent like Vivek Oberoi and Paresh Rawal. In the film Humaima Malick plays the role of the Sunjay Dutt character’s wife, which is narrated through a series of flashback sequences after her husband’s death.

LUX Style Awards 2012: Music Nominations

Nominations for the 11th LUX Style Awards were announced in Karachi this week. The Awards office of Pakistan’s most credible and coveted Awards released nominations in 26 categories in the genres of Film, Music, Television and Fashion.

The LSA Film Jury voted for Bol across all three categories. Shoaib Mansoor’s Bol was the sole film that made the grade and qualified as a bonafide entrant for an Award that is given out for excellence in cinema.

Pakistan emerged on top at the London Asian Film Festival 2012

A night for Pakistan in London.

Pakistani films were big winners at the London Asian Film Festival 2012 held at BAFTA.

Shoaib Mansoor‘s Bol won three awards in the category of the Best Film, Best Female Actor award for Humaima Malick and best New Talent for Amr Kashmiri.

Pakistan music icon Rahat Fateh Ali Khan won the Best Music Talent in Film award for his song ‘Koi Dil Mai’ from Tamanna, the Pakistani film set for release in September. Director Steven Moore, and producer, Sarah Tareen received the award.

Junoon 20th Anniversary Album Volume 1 Released on iTunes

This year’s most anticipated album ‘Junoon-20 (Volume 1)‘ is finally here. The Sufi rock album which consists of 20 tracks, features talented artists like Aag, Alison Sudol, Bilal Khan, Fifi Haroon, Laal, Nusrat Hussain, Outlandish, Peter Gabriel, Rohail Hyatt, Shahjehan of The Kominas, Shubha Mudgal, Usman Riaz and Vital Signs, has now been released on iTunes.

The album costs $9.99 and the proceeds that will be raised from it will be donated to help support the efforts of Salman and Samina’s Charity for Education.

The volume 2 will be out soon!

Ghoom Tana Mash-up of Shubha Mudgal & Noori Will Be On Junoon-20th Anniversary Album

Junoon-20th Anniversary Album to feature a mash-up of “Ghoom Tana“, which is undoubtedly one of the best Junoon songs ever produced. As most of you may already know that there are two versions of the same song. It was originally sung jointly by Ali Noor (Noori) with Ali Azmat and Salman Ahmad and was included in Junoon’s seventh studio album “Dewaar”. The other version off Salman Ahmad’s 2005 debut solo album, “Infiniti” featured Indian singer Shubha Mudgal.

Shoaib Mansoor To Write Lyrics For Junoon 20th Anniversary Album

Legendary film-maker and story teller, Shoaib Mansoor who has also been a successful songwriter and music composer will for the first time write lyrics for Junoon.

Besides being a mentor to Vital Signs and Junaid Jamshed, Shoaib Mansoor has written, composed and produced most of the Vital Signs’ songs. He wrote and composed many of their hit numbers such as Dil Dil Pakistan and Aitebar. He also wrote the lyrics for his debut film “Khuda Kay Liye” and his recently released film “Bol“.

Salman Ahmad, the lead guitarist and founder of Junoon is working on putting together a 20th anniversary box-set (1991-2011), which will feature some of Junoon’s popular old songs as well as some new ones.
