Zeb and Haniya – Bonding Pakistan with Bollywood again

A pop band from Pakistan came to India last week. Zeb and Haniya are two girls who play the guitar and sing. They got the usual treatment Pakistanis get from our press: front page story in the Times of India (another inside), in the Indian Express, interviews with the news channels and with radio stations. They got invited to concerts, to Bollywood parties and were able to meet the film industry’s music directors and producers.

It was in the eighties when Hasan Jahangir’s terribly catchy ‘Hawa Hawa’ SB_Hasancame into our consciousness. Two decades later,  ‘Hawa Hawa’ hasn’t lost its appeal. But over the years, many unofficial remixes of the song have released and majority of them have not done justice to the song. And Hasan Jahangir never gave rights to remix his most famous tune… until now.

Mustafa, is the vocalist, lyricist and the composer for the band; Haider on the lead guitar, backing vocals and composition, Jawad a.k.a Jodi is on the rhythm guitar, and Omar is the bass guitarist.
