The name ‘Qayaas’ certainly rings a bell in the Pakistani music scene. Because music-lovers recognise them as being one of Pakistan’s finest rock bands to emerge from the country.

Their main highlights include a well-received debut album “Uss Paar” topped off with various music videos already released. They’ve won multiple awards, featured in Coke Studio, have been included in the Metal Asia Compilation (for being so kick-ass) and have made various radio and TV appearances.

Pakistani Filmmaker’s ‘HEAL’ wins at the 2011 Comic-Con International Independent Film Festival

SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA, JULY 29, 2011 – HEAL, a supernatural short film set between Afghanistan and Pakistan has won the ‘Best Science Fiction / Fantasy Film’ award at this year’s Comic-Con International Independent Film Festival (CCI-IFF).

The final year thesis film written and directed by Pakistani filmmaker, Mian Adnan Ahmad screened at this year’s Comic-Con as part of the CCI-IFF on Saturday, July 23 and received the prize during the Awards Ceremony the next day. During Comic-Con Adnan was in Pakistan and the film was represented by Marcus Metsala (Producer), Yukako Shimada (Editor) and actors Navid Negahban, Ameer Zhowandai and Fereshta Kazemi. A member of the jury and well known film critic Eric Vespe was impressed by the quality of storytelling, production value and performances in HEAL,

Pakistani Writer/Director’s supernatural film screens at Comic-Con

SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA, JULY 21, 2011 – While Pakistan remains in the eye of the storm, a young filmmaker from Pakistan has also been receiving laurels in the U.S and around the world for his powerful film which uses the supernatural to bring focus to the often ignored plight of civilians living in times of conflict. HEAL, a final year thesis film written and directed by Pakistani filmmaker, Mian Adnan Ahmad and produced by Marcus Metsala and Mian Adnan Ahmad is being screened at this year’s Comic-Con as part of the Comic-Con International Independent Film Festival (CCIIFF). The film has also previously been honored with the prestigious Frank Capra Award at this year’s Fallbrook Film Festival for which Adnan was flown to the U.S in April to receive the award from Frank Capra III himself (grandson of six-time academy award winning film director, Frank Capra, after whom the award is named).
