Faraz AnwarGuns N’ Roses and Faraz Anwar were supposed to work on the project “The Dreamer Awakes“, says Pakistan’s master of progressive rock himself. The peace through music project which is now in the hands of Atif Aslam was supposed to be in Faraz’ hands.

He was completely furious about the project he started as he has been cut off without even giving him any credit. He added, “Some people take information from you and cut you off from something you started without even giving you credit.”

Atif who is now collaborating with popular American rock band, Guns N’ Roses and is the face of the ‘Pakistan America Peace Through Music Project‘, was chosen by the musician turned humanitarian Todd Shea. After listening to me, he became a fan and then he started researching on me and found out that this guy is famous.”

Pakistan America Peace Through Music Project

Background:

Mention Pakistan today and what comes to the minds of most Americans is terrorism, poverty, and hopelessness. That’s all they see in the news. But Pakistan also has one of the world’s most diverse and rich cultures, equaled only by its spectacular natural beauty as home to part of Kashmir, the Khyber Pass and high mountain peaks like K2. Once upon a time in the not so distant past, Texan gun enthusiasts brought their prized antique revolvers to Peshawar’s gun smiths to make copies, actor Robert DeNiro posed for pictures with restaurant owners while vacationing in Chitral, and Mick Jagger tested his dance skills with Lahore’s most well-known Mujra dancers. And many of Pakistan’s greatest musicians and singers like Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan regularly collaborated with their counterparts in Europe and America such as Peter Gabriel and Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder.

Atif has made available more information to the fans about his upcoming project “The Dreamer Awakes“. As mentioned earlier, he already has recorded one track which is a punjabi single and his own composition.

This will not be an English-only but multi-lingual fusion project featuring tracks in Urdu, Punjabi and English.

This will add more to both cultures and bring the nations closer. Atif’s collaboration with G n’ R had made Pakistanis proud but considering now that tracks will include our mother language shall make us prouder.

Atif Aslam to Unite With Guns N’ Roses for “The Dreamer Awakes”

Earlier today we published some pictures of Atif Aslam and his gang along with former band members of Guns N’ Roses. Atif has shared more information about the upcoming project, one of the songs of which has already been recorded earlier today.

The project seems like a multi-song project by the name “The Dreamer Awakes” by Lanny Cordola. The line up includes couple of former GnR members with Matt Sorum on the drums and Gilby Clarke on the guitars while Slash will be on board too.

“Collaborating with the band is a success for the whole music industry in Pakistan,” he said. During the press conference the singer said, “As per the contract with the American band, I will be able to represent Pakistani culture in this album. It will clear many misunderstandings about Pakistan.”

“Americans want to know about Pakistani art and culture,” he said. “This effort is initiated to bring the two nations closer.”

“My project will also benefit other singers. I will try to introduce them on an international level through this album,” he said.

That’s all Atif has shared for now with the fans and he promises to share more information on this project soon.
