Mehreen Jabbar, a film-maker and television director/producer who has directed over a dozen TV dramas and an award winning feature film “Ramchand Pakistani”, is now working as the second unit director for Nair‘s “The Reluctant Fundamentalist“, an adaptation of Pakistani author Mohsin Hamid’s bestseller literary piece.
Mehreen has directed several award winning dramas which have been loved by a vast audience. However, Mehreen has only worked on a single feature film, this being her second.

Internationally acclaimed filmmaker Mira Nair behind Salaam Bombay!, Monsoon Wedding and The Namesake, has begun shooting for her new film based on Mohsin Hamid’s bestselling novel The Reluctant Fundamentalist. A Mirabai Films and Cine Mosaic production, the film is adapted by Bill Wheeler, Mohsin Hamid, and Ami Boghani and produced by Lydia Dean Pilcher. The film started shooting this week on location in Atlanta, New York, Lahore, Delhi and Istanbul.

Earlier we reported that Ali Zafar has auditioned to act in US-based Indian filmmaker Mira Nair’s adaptation of Pakistani author Mohsin Hamid’s bestseller literary piece, The Reluctant Fundamentalist.
Though we haven’t heard since then if he was ultimatly chosen for the role, and that’s highly unlikely, now that Zafar has been spending most of his time working in the Bollywood, we have just heard that Meesha Shafi of “Alif Allah” fame has been cast in Nair’s Reluctant Fundamentalist which will be a Hollywood production.
