Pakistani Musicians Won Awards at Mirchi Music Awards 2010

Mirchi Music Awards 2010MUMBAI: Radio Mirchi geared up for the third edition of India’s leading music awards ceremony, “Mirchi Music Awards 2010” which were held last night (January 27, 2011) at the MMRDA Complex in Bandra, Mumbai, India.

Mirchi Music Awards, instituted by Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM, celebrates excellence in the music industry of India. Positioned and envisioned as the Grammys of India, the Mirchi Music Awards are purely Bollywood awards. It is an award of excellence and not a popularity award. The event was supported by the Singers Association of India and the Music Composers Association of India.

Pakistani musicians swept Mirchi Music Awards as Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was nominated under four different categories for his bollywood songs while Amanat Ali, Najam Sheraz, Shafqat Amanat Ali & Shiraz Uppal were also nominated.

Rahat & Shafqat Nominated for 56th Filmfare Awards 2011

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan & Shafqat Amanat AliAfter winning two awards this year for the “Best Playback Singer”, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has now received two more nominations for the same category at the 56th Filmfare Awards 2010. But this time he is not the only Pakistani musician nominated; Shafqat Amanat Ali and Adnan Sami have also been nominated in the same category.

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has been nominated for Sajda (My Name Is Khan) & Dil Toh Baccha Hai Jee (Ishqiya) where as Shafqat Amanat Ali has been nominated for Bin Tere (I Hate Luv Storys) and Adnan Sami for Noor-e-Khuda (My Name Is Khan).

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan Wins “Best Playback Singer” Award in 17th Star Screen Awards, 2011

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan certainly ruled Bollywood’s music scene in 2010 with his three big hits, “Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Jee” from the film Ishqiya, which topped all the Indian music charts through out the year, Sajda from the film My Name Is Khan and Tere Mast Mast Do Nain from the film Dabangg. All three of them were amongst the most popular Indian songs of 2010.

Last night at the 17th Star Screen Awards, Rahat was announced the winner of the “Best Playback Singer” award for his hit single “Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Jee”. Last year, he took over the music in India by winning the same award for his song “Ajj Din Chadeya” at the 16th Star Screen Awards.

The song “Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Jee” was a melodious beginning to the year.

Atif Aslam & RFAK nominated for Best Playback Singer at GIMA

Atif Aslam & Rahat Fateh Ali KhanMusic is a universal language. It speaks across geographies, across cultures. With music, nothing is lost in translation. Based on this inspiring thought this year two Pakistani singers, Atif Aslam & Rahat Fateh Ali Khan have been nominated under the same category of the ‘Best Playback Singer (Male)‘ at the Global Indian Music Awards (GIMA) which are considered to be the biggest music awards of India. Rahat has been nominated for two of his songs, Dil To Bachcha Hai from the film Ishqiya and for Sajdaa from My Name Is Khan whereas Atif has only been nominated for one song, Tu Jaane Na from the film Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani.

It is an upcoming 2010 Bollywood film based upon a true story. It is directed by Karan Johar, co-produced by Johar (Dharma Productions) and Shahrukh Khan (Red Chillies Entertainment). The screenplay is by Shibani Bathija, and stars Khan and Kajol. The musical trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy composed the film’s score. Cinematography is by Ravi K. Chandran. Fox Searchlight Pictures is distributing the film.
