Pakistan will not be a country ruled by mullahs with a divine mission, said Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, the father of the nation. What about Jinnah’s Pakistan? Islam teaches peace and forgiveness not revenge. Islam teaches that God is Al-Ghaffur “The All-Forgiving”, and is the original source of all forgiveness (ghufran غفران). Forgiveness often requires the repentance of those being forgiven. Depending on the type of wrong committed, forgiveness can come either directly from Allah, or from one’s fellow man who received the wrong. In the case of divine forgiveness, the asking for divine forgiveness via repentance is important. In the case of human forgiveness, it is important to both forgive, and to be forgiven.

It is the greatest national disaster this nation has ever faced: floods have devastated lands, have destroyed villages and lives across the country. All four provinces have been affected and it is impossible for those who live away from the flood’s reach to ignore what is happening. Sami Yusuf recently released a charity single ‘Hear Your Call‘ for Pakistan. He added, “Pakistan would face a second wave of deaths from water borne diseases and food shortages unless more aid arrives soon. So, please donate as much as you can.”
Sami Yusuf writes on his blog for Pakistan Flood Victims:
Dear all,
We all know that a great calamity is taking place in Pakistan. However, the magnitude is beyond imagination. I’ve personally been very busy these past few weeks, which meant that I had little access to TV/News… However, a few days ago I saw something on the BBC which has affected my sleep ever since! As a result, I have spent the past few days working non-stop in the studio to release a charity single in order to raise emergency funds/donations for our people in Pakistan…
The track will be released in the coming days and all proceeds will go towards Save The Children’s emergency relief efforts in Pakistan. I ask you all to support this initiative and donate as much you can… What we have before us in an unprecedented natural disaster zone. One-fifth of Pakistan is under water. An estimated 1600 have died, a staggering 20 million are effected by the floods due to torrential monsoon rains. The affected are displaced and exposed to the extreme weather due to the lack of shelter. Food supplies are dangerously low, there’s no clean water to drink and no medical aid. Diarrhoea, malaria and gastroenteritis threaten the lives of the survived. Skin infections and malnutrition is rife.
Pakistan is experiencing an internal haemorrhage, where the Indus River that runs like a vein from the head to toe of Pakistan is flooded with the monsoon rains causing the river banks to burst.. It is not until the rainy season is over and for the flood water to ultimately seep into the Arabian Sea that the scale of the disaster can be estimated. This is an ongoing watery slaughter as heavy rains continue to flood the Indus River. We need to help rebuild lives, we need to act NOW!

I walked into a recording studio in Karachi recently to find Dawud Wharnsby Ali (formerly known as David Howard Wharnsby), one of the pioneers in the genre of English nausheed on a global level (along with the likes of Yousuf Islam, Zain Bhikha and the more recently popular, Sami Yousuf) in the vocal booth recording his vocals for a local project in which he was actually singing in Urdu. Repeatedly tutored by the music producer there on the nuances of pronunciation, Dawud would eventually get the song right.
To commemorate the holy month of Ramadan, and as a thank you to all his fans, Sami is to release “You Came To Me”, from his highly anticipated New Album as a free download.
