Song: Where We Need To Be
“This is our second song, and from the moment we recorded it’s first draft (some eight months ago now) we have been so excited to have people hear it. It is by far the most different song in our album and one we are extremely proud to have written. A love song at the core, it has several different underlying meanings which we will leave up to you to interpret for yourself.”
On Friday, the 22nd of June 2012, CityFM89 celebrated World Music Day in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad simultaneously. 20 up and coming Pakistani bands performed in the three cities.
The Karachi event took place at Port Grand. Khalid Malik of The Breakfast Show on CityFM89 hosted the evening. The show started off with Hassan Hussain performing Pakistani pop classics and his original single “Rangeen Raat” Up next was 7 on 3rd, fronted by Gibran Nasir, who performed covers of popular songs such as Adele’s Rolling In The Deep and Vital Signs’ ‘Dil Dil Pakistan.’

Here’s what 7on3rd has to say about this cover song:

Song: Fix You
Coldplay‘s Fix You is quite possibly one of the most popular and identifiable songs of the last decade – so when 7on3rd decided to put their own spin on the music and change it up quite a bit, they knew there was an element of risk involved as the hardcore fans don’t always appreciate it when bands try to mess with perfection.
As the music industry adapts to the changing mechanics of the world, we see increased artistic output and an even greater reception. Instead of record companies, the artists are turning to sponsors and the trend of cover songs is gaining momentum. Cover songs are a great way to show off your skills and pay tribute to your heroes, but it wasn’t a very common practice until very recently. So in order to keep you more updated on this developing phenomenon here is Koolmuzone’s list of Top Pakistani Covers From 2011.

Song: Hurt (Johnny Cash cover)
This is one of 7on3rd’s favourite songs. The amazing Johnny Cash covered this Nine Inch Nails song and did such an unbelievable job on it with his low, dark voice that even Trent Reznor himself stated that this was no longer his song, it now belonged to Mr. Cash.
