Just when you thought it was all over, the music industry is abuzz with plans of album launches, collaborations, soundtracks, creative projects, the potential for solo projects by the likes of Rohail Hyatt and Co. In 2010, the music industry is slated to make a comeback with a vengeance
Rahat Fateh Ali Khan working on not one, but two albums!
The albums are slated for a late 2010 release but chances are that it could take till 2011 for his work to come out. One of the albums titled Koi Umeed will have four qawwalis, one of which – the title track – is a whopping 30 minutes long! It will contain poetry and bandish from Mirza Ghalib’s selected works. The selection of poetry and composition has been done by Mian Yousuf Salahuddin and those close to Rahat expect that this album will land him a place with the great maestros.
It doesn’t surprise us to know that Coke Studio has made waves internationally in as many places as we can think off. Paimona being a pushto/darri song had to top the afghan charts and so it did.

Our Afghan friends tell us that Paimona (Coke Studio version) is topping charts in Afghanistan. How amazing is that? We’re both incredibly happy 😀
Earlier this month, a certain bulletin caught my attention. ‘Zeb and Haniya, Pakistan’s first female duo, visit India.’ The Times of India was one of the first to feature them in their daily… after which every tabloid I turned to had them covered. Their names, place of birth, education background… and the inevitable questions about their plans in Bollywood (!) had indeed taken our media by storm.
So, the coke studio season 2 finally comes to an end. We all are going to miss the studio where the fusion happened and will desperately wait for the the third season to come (May Allah give long life to Rohail Hyatt). During the airing of the second season, we actively collected statistics and ran voting polls (10 days per poll) for each episode, so, we may figure out and also share with you the likenesses and dis likeness of the crowd about the the season.
The statistics and analysis are our own and must not be used anywhere else without prior permission. They do not represent the original statistics of the Coke Studio by the Cokestudio.com.pk
As per the KoolMuzone’s inside news Zeb & Haniya will be doing three more tracks in the coke studio, one being fusion with Javed Bashir. Haniya Aslam says
We have 3 more tracks coming up, and I’m personally very very excited about hearing how the fusion with Javed Bashir has turned out. Fingers crossed 🙂
cheersHaniya
I’m really excited about the Zeb & Haniya’s performances. Their “Paimona” was my personal favorite performance of the episode one along with Noori’s and Sean Zahoor’s “Aik Alif”. Keep visiting KoolMuzone for more news and updates.
Coke Studio and beyond: The wonderful world of Umber and Rohail Hyatt
Behind every successful man is a woman and Rohail Hyatt is the first to admit it, as he and his wife Umber let Instep in to their home and life at the height of Coke Studio fever.

Meet the producers
To the world at large, Coke Studio is the magnum opus genius of Rohail Hyatt. Featuring Pakistan’s biggest names in music, both from the Eastern classical/folk front and modern day pop giants while introducing new musicians into the mix who have hitherto remained unknown backing musicians at various concerts, the second season of Coke Studio is looking spectacular.
Madeeha Syed gets through high security for a backstage peek at the most elusive recording studio in town.
I drive several miles out of the main centre of the city, cross a bridge into an area dominated by warehouses and industrial mills and arrive at a venue marked only by a tiny sign. The only thing that gives the location away are the number of cars parked in front and the comings and goings of personnel with identity tags around their necks.
Despite all of the sociopolitical and economic odds it faces, art serves not only as a breath of fresh air but also motivates those exposed to it. Recently, episode one of the second season of Coke Studio titled Individuality was aired on private networks across Pakistan, giving audiences a flavour of the music coming out of Pakistan’s biggest music collaborative venture.
