Atif Aslam & Strings To Be Featured On MTV Unplugged

Atif Aslam and Strings are all-set to perform acoustic sessions in the Indian edition of MTV Unplugged, an acclaimed music series.

The Indian version of MTV Unplugged, an acoustic performance show, which features stripped-down, intimate live sets of popular artists, will go on floors in August. Unplugged which is a follow up of Coke Studio @ MTV will feature two Pakistani artists Atif Aslam and Strings, apart from other Indian artists such as Rabbi Shergill, Shilpa Rao, Indian Ocean and Euphoria.

The concept behind the Unplugged series is that musicians will be re-interpreting their original songs

Rabbi Shergill Will Not Be Part of the Coke Studio Season 4

If you have been following our Coke Studio Seaosn 4 coverage closely, you’re most likely to know that Rabbi Shergill was here in Pakistan to record for the fourth season of the Coke Studio. We even heard about a potential collaboration with Jal.

While he was here and he recorded for the show, you will not get to hear his music this season. Unfortunately, he was around only for a little time and the recordings done weren’t up to the mark.

Jal to Collaborate with Rabbi Shergill at Coke Studio Season 4?

The news of Rabbi Shergill and Jal performing at the Coke Studio Season 4 has been surfacing for quite sometime. What we weren’t hearing was that they are performing together.

While everyone was lip-tight about the season 4 of the Coke Studio, Jal, for reasons unknown, has tried to spill out as much information as possible. Jal confirmed their presence in the show back in December last year and later leaked a few images with Qurat-ul-Ain Balouch, confirming her inclusion and a potential collaboration. They confirmed that they will be performing three tracks this season. They even announced the season launch date before the Coke Studio could officially do it.

Coke Studio Welcomes Kailash Kher and Call the band?

The Pakistani phenomenon, Coke Studio welcomes the Pakistani rock band Call and another Indian musician, Kailash Kher who is a household name in India, having successfully fused Indian folk music with pop. We have come to know this from two very reliable sources from inside the studio.

Produced by Rohail Hyatt, the show will feature both the band and the sufi musician as a part of the fourth season of Coke Studio. Kailash Kher will be the second Indian musician to be featured in this highly successful Pakistani TV show after Rabbi Shergill. This proves that artistes, regardless of their nationality, are for the people and by the people, and of the people.

Coke Studio Welcomes Indian Singer “Rabbi Shergill”

Rabbi Shergill to be featured in Coke Studio Season 4Indian Express, an Indian newspaper group claims that Indian singer “Rabbi Shergill” will be part of Pakistan’s biggest live music show, Coke Studio.

The highly successful Pakistani TV show will feature Rabbi Shergill, an Indian musician well known for his chart-topper song of 2005, “Bulla Ki Jaana” which was based on the poetry of 18th century Muslim Sufi mystic Baba Bulleh Shah. His music has been described as semi-Sufi semi-folksy kind of music with a lot of Western arrangements.

The newspaper claims,

“The singer (Rabbi) flew to Pakistan on Saturday for about a week for what would be the first Indo-Pak collaboration by Coke Studio. The bid to get Rabbi to be a part of the fourth season started late last year.”
