Shafqat Amanat Ali To Feature in Season 2 of ‘The Dewarists’ & ‘MTV Unplugged’

One of the biggest singing exports of Pakistan, Shafqat Amanat Ali is once again in the business as he will be seen featuring in an Indian show, The Dewarists season 2.

Shafqat Amanat shot to fame with Fuzon but later parted ways with the band and went on to deliver even a bigger hit “Mitwa” filmed on Shahrukh Khan and then there was no looking back for the singer. Since then he has been regularly providing playbacks for the Indian movies, in fact many of them getting quite popular among the masses on the both sides of the border and worldwide too. He even managed to make an entry on to opening season of Coke Studio India, not to forget his earlier appearance on Coke Studio Pakistan as well.

Atif Aslam & Strings To Be Featured On MTV Unplugged

Atif Aslam and Strings are all-set to perform acoustic sessions in the Indian edition of MTV Unplugged, an acclaimed music series.

The Indian version of MTV Unplugged, an acoustic performance show, which features stripped-down, intimate live sets of popular artists, will go on floors in August. Unplugged which is a follow up of Coke Studio @ MTV will feature two Pakistani artists Atif Aslam and Strings, apart from other Indian artists such as Rabbi Shergill, Shilpa Rao, Indian Ocean and Euphoria.

The concept behind the Unplugged series is that musicians will be re-interpreting their original songs

Zeb and Haniya: Live music is a problem in Pakistan

MTV India‘s new music show called “MTV Roots” is a weekly show featuring artists/bands of South Asian origin from around the world. The launch episode of MTV Roots featured music videos of various South Asian artists including Mekaal Hasan Band. The main idea behind the show is to promote the bands of South Asia that are not so popular in India.

Zeb and Haniya who is soon going to be seen on MTV Roots, on the World Music Day, had a chat with their fans on MTV India’s twitter.

Q: Which Indian artist do you listen to?

Haniya: “I’ve listen to a lot of Indian music. R.D. Burman, S.D. Burman, Madan Mohan right upto Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy!”

Coke Studio @ MTV is NOT About Bollywood Music

As the news of Coke Studio @ MTV (India) hit the media, a lot Coke Studio fans frowned upon the news thinking that the Coke Studio @ MTV will be offering Bollywood music to the fans. From what we have heard, that’s far from true.

Coke Studio @ MTV looks forward to preserve the original essence of the show with 3 classical/folk/indie acts in every episode of the debut season of the extremely popular TV show. I have personally never been a great fan of mainstream Indian music, which is why this blog sticks to delivering content about Pakistani music only, but I really expect  the Coke Studio @ MTV to be indifferent, unique and awesome.

Ali Zafar to Perform at Coke Studio @ MTV (India)? Seems Like!

We have just revealed a list of 12 artists who are confirmed to play at the Coke Studio @ MTV (India) but there are a few which still haven’t been disclosed to us. Ali Zafar is not one of the featured artists of Pakistani Coke Studio Season 4 but that doesn’t stop him from performing at the Coke Studio @ MTV, does it?

We have found out that Ali Zafar’s management is in talks with the the management of Coke Studio @ MTV which may mean Zafar may actually be part of the debut season of the popular TV show which has its roots in Pakistan.

12 Artists Confirmed for Coke Studio @ MTV (India)

Coke Studio @ MTV (India) has been swinging at the full pace and we’re getting frequent updates as much as multiple times a day. We have just received a list of twelve artists who have been confirmed to perform in the first season of Coke Studio @ MTV.

As reported earlier, the first season will begin with Shafqat Amanat Ali’s “Akhiyan”. Other confirmed artists include Shruti Pathak, Advaita, Shankar Mahadevan, Raghu Dixit, Kailash Kher, Wadali Bros, Sabri Bros, Shaan, Papon (from Assam), Sanjeev T & KK.
