As the music industry adapts to the changing mechanics of the world, we see increased artistic output and an even greater reception. Instead of record companies, the artists are turning to sponsors and the trend of cover songs is gaining momentum. Cover songs are a great way to show off your skills and pay tribute to your heroes, but it wasn’t a very common practice until very recently. So in order to keep you more updated on this developing phenomenon here is Koolmuzone’s list of Top Pakistani Covers From 2011.

Cover of Vital Signs song – ‘Tere Liye Hai‘
There has been a lot of controversy and I mean a LOT when i say it, over the song Tere Liye by Atif Aslam for Prince It’s Showtime. The song first came out with few objectionable phrases which were highly objected by the Pakistani and Muslim audience. On such massive protest, TIPS decided to edit the songs and removed those objectionable phrases from the song. Later when the music of the film was released, the objectionable phrases were excluded from the songs.
However, the official music video which came out today, is still based on the old version of “Tere Liye” and has those objectionable phrases. What exactly is TIPS trying to do? I don’t know. Share your views
Atif Aslam’s Official Statement:
ASALAM-O-ALAIKUM to all ma dear fans
Heard abt ppl talking abt mA new
song frm prince .. first ov all i would like u guys to
knw tht whenever a song is recorded for the playback
film in the studio , the singer only gets to sing on the
rough track (i.e the music is just used as a reference
which is certainly not the final track when it is being
recorded in the studio ). In addition to tht, only the
music director has the right to put in the music(i.e the
way film director and producer wants to) . so ppl if
there is any such version which is against ma religion is
offcourse and vill never be supported. Simple
