On 9th of September, Mr. Fahd Khan, Associate Manager, Geo TV on a telephonic conversation claimed rights on some of the content that is being distributed freely on this site. Complying with them, I asked them to e-mail me the details along with the link, so, I may review and take actions. The email consisted of the links to “Rona Chor Diya by Zeb and Haniya (Cokestudio version)”. I responded back with details that they are trying to claim rights on Cokestudio content. I was replied back by Mr. Fahd that the content is protected under law and Fire Records are the right owners. Being unsure, I requested Mr. Fahd to look again in to the matter if removal is mandatory. I was responded back today, that yes, it has to be taken off. Complying with the record label, I took off the content and tried to look in to the matter myself. On looking in to it, I realized “Frequency Media” are the right owners of the content. I was confused and curious about the continuous warnings from the Fire Records. Why would Fire Records claim rights on the content which is property of “Frequency Media”?

So, the coke studio season 2 finally comes to an end. We all are going to miss the studio where the fusion happened and will desperately wait for the the third season to come (May Allah give long life to Rohail Hyatt). During the airing of the second season, we actively collected statistics and ran voting polls (10 days per poll) for each episode, so, we may figure out and also share with you the likenesses and dis likeness of the crowd about the the season.

Zeb & Haniya: You Go Girls
In a month or so Coke Studio went through quite a few troughs and peaks. There were highs and lows. Let’s first shower profuse praise on the delectable duo of Zeb and Haniya.
Their song, Rona Chhor Diya (yes use double ‘h’ you burgers) with Javed Bashir chipping in with his jugalbandi kind of a thing, was a piece of art to relish, a true auditory treat. Both girls sounded fun and at the same time were note-perfect, musically speaking. The number was a delightful blend of spunk and meaningfulness.

Last year, Coke Studio ended on the fourth episode which featured songs from all artists involved. This year the studio includes a bonus episode, extending the season to a full five sessions, bringing the musical journey to its conclusion in Unity, on 14 August 2009.
